Blockheads ~ Block 19

Blockheads ~ Block 19

It's July!  Summer.  Vacations.  Kids at home?  Grand adventures - summers are made for that kind of thing.  Basically, there are lots and lots of distractions.  So do you have eighteen blocks made?

I'm caught up on blocks, and with the flying geese I'm making for the setting-sashing I have in mind.  I'd fallen behind a bit - okay, a lot of bit.  But I'm caught up now.  I might actually be a little bit ahead with the geese... for this week, anyway.

It's Lynne's turn with the Blockheads - this is Night Flight.

This is Tammy's block made with Lynne's Layered Patchwork technique.  The geese prints are from Posh Pumpkins by Sandy Gervais and Sycamore by Jan Patek, and the backgrounds are from Miniature Gatherings and Miniature Gatherings Backgrounds by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings.

Don't worry - the instructions this week include both Lynne's wonderful Layered Patchwork and a traditional pieced method.  To achieve greater variety in the prints and geese, the technique used is "flip-and-sew" or connector corners.

As before, the fabrics in this block are from Farmhouse by Fig Tree & Co. ~ Joanna Figueroa.

My blue Reproduction block seems to have disappeared... or at least the picture of it.  If you don't see it here... look for it next week so I can prove I'm completely caught up!

Question of the Week ~ Do you display your quilts in your home?  If so, how?

I do.  On the beds, of course.  Over the end of the sofa and there is always at least one folded on the ottoman.  I have three large baskets with rolled quilts on display for color and because I like the way they look.  There are also quilts hanging on the wall behind the sofa and my bed.  I use curtain rods with hangars that have little clippy-things that grip the quilt.  I'm sure museum-folks would be horrified but this method lets me easily change quilts every month - which I do.

I'd show pictures but that would mean making the bed, straightening out the living room, vacuuming... actual cleaning.  I have sewing to do!  Who has time for that sort of thing?  Especially in the summer.  Maybe by Christmas...

That's it for today, July 12.  Be sure to visit Lisa, Betsy, J0 and Jan to see their blocks and what other good things they might have made:

Be sure to see the blocks being posted to #modablockheads on Instagram and Facebook. If you're not already a member, you can also join the fun in the Moda Blockheads Facebook group.  It's a busy group with folks sharing tips, suggestions and support.

Happy Blockhead Wednesday!
