Amarilys Henderson

Amarilys Henderson

The effortless beauty of watercolor and a bold approach to creating imbue Amarilys Henderson’s vibrant work. Fun is always at the forefront of the creative process as Amarilys explores the depth of joy she seeks to capture.

Born in Puerto Rico and having lived in a handful of states while growing up, Amarilys created a vivid inner world to retreat to. Her sketchbook was a constant home that later became a hub for her "watercolor devo's"--pages painted while processing newfound motherhood and a renewed faith. You'll find notes of playful simplicity, warm nostalgia, lush botanical bleeds, brush lettering and throwback whimsey throughout her work.

Amarilys majored in Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. She has since seen her work grace ceramics, fabric, paper goods, home decor, and packaging as a surface designer. Amarilys has also illustrated gift and children's books. While her art is the forefront, it's her laid-back teaching style that may be what Amarilys is best known for. She teaches online and through her instructional books, published by Quarry Books and sold worldwide in several languages.

You’ll find this boy-mom curled up in her studio, accepting lattes from her Minnesota man. The guys keep her on her toes. Humor keeps her grounded. A love for God keeps her going.
